Steelmaking and Rolling Industries
Applications
The Chock is one of the key structural components of rolling mill stands. Serving as the bearing housing for the mill rolls, it is responsible for supporting, positioning, and guiding the roll assembly within the rolling stand. The proper performance of the Roll Chock directly affects roll stability, rolling accuracy, finished product quality, and the overall operational reliability of the rolling mill stand assembly.
During the rolling process, roll chocks are subjected to extremely high forces, impact loads, vibrations, mechanical stresses, and continuous operating conditions. Therefore, their design and manufacturing require high mechanical strength, precise dimensional and geometric accuracy, and strict control over bearing mounting locations and associated components. Roll chocks must be capable of withstanding the substantial forces generated during rolling operations without undergoing undesirable deformation. Accordingly, mechanical strength, structural rigidity, machining precision, bearing seat surface quality, and strict dimensional tolerance control are among the most critical requirements in their manufacturing.
